Everyday habits for long-term oral health

Small, consistent habits do more for your teeth than any single treatment. A short guide to the routines our hygiene team recommends.

The quiet foundation of healthy teeth is not found in the clinic but at home. A few consistent habits protect your teeth and gums, and make every treatment last longer.

Twice a day, gently

Brush for two minutes, twice a day, with a soft brush and a fluoride toothpaste. Gentle, methodical brushing is more effective than force, which can wear enamel and irritate gums.

Clean between your teeth

Brushing reaches only part of each tooth. Interdental brushes or floss, used once a day, clean the surfaces where problems most often begin. Your hygienist can show you which sizes suit you.

Small choices that add up

  • Keep sugary snacks and drinks to mealtimes
  • Drink water between meals
  • Wait a little before brushing after acidic food
  • Wear a mouthguard for contact sports

Regular examinations then let us notice small changes early, when care is simplest.
